Tchaikovsky - Festival Coronation March for Brass QuintetTchaikovsky's Festival Coronation March was commissioned by the City of Moscow in 1883 for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III and first performed on June 4 of that year. The work contains two quotes of "God Save the Tsar", which were edited out during performances throughout the Communist Soviet era, but are now back in place in order for the low brass section to shine :) Steven Gamble's excellent arrangement of this 5 1 2 minute work is appropriate

The work is in a contemporary style and is about 11 minutes in length

There is a story that this work was heard twice by a young 14-year-old Mozart during a special visit to the Vatican with his father in 1770
