Pietra Di Vicenza Stone Boy with Lute Mid 20th CenturyA delightful Pietra Di Vicenza stone Boy playing a Lute standing upon its' historically associated composite stone plinth. First quarter 20th Century. Beautifully carved, with a gentle and serene expression. The statue has a time worn patination of delicately coloured lichens. Vicenza stone is characterised by its light tones ranging from ivory to greys. It is composed mainly of calcium carbonate and within its textured surface it is evidently grainy

These have been heavily collected from the 1750’s when it was fashionable for large English Country Houses to have original Italian Gondolas with their lanterns lit upon their lakes and rivers

A charming lead garden fountain portraying a pair of Putti Figures in each other’s arms whilst clasping a cornucopia

An unusual pair of Demilune or half round French cast iron classical urns with a great patina

The body of the figure of Christ is naively carved

Her smaller scale would have suggested this piece would have been created for personal devotional use in a private chapel or within intimate shrine at home

and with raised right arm is about to draw an arrow from her quiver as she grasps a young deer at her feet
