Aechmea 'Fosters Favorite'Aechmea 'Fosters Favorite' is a wonderful hybrid by Mulford Foster. Interestingly this is the first ever Bromeliad hybrid to be patented in 15 11 1949. It is a hybrid between A. racinae and A. victoriana var discolor. Aechmea 'Fosters Favorite' has wonderful dark red leaves and a pendulous flower spike with bright red orange bracts and blue flowers. It does not like too much sun. Here is one large size pup.

Native to Brazil

The worlds largest being Puya raimondii

which i prefer to do as it allows for easy maintanance of the plant

This plant will grow into a fantastic clump

This is not a very light demanding plant

It has distichous or opposite leaves and around winter time here it produces lovely scented flowers of an interesting yellow or orange/brown colour

To avoid this plants can be mounted or hung on their side

A total of 320 bromeliad species from throughout the Neotropics

Tillandsia aizoides is in the subgenus Diaphoranthema one of the seven Tillandsia subgenera

Tillandsia disticha is an interesting and unique species

I have flowered this plant before and shown it at Flower shows but i cant find my pictures of it at the moment
